//Project: Flat Pack
//Product: Work Space
//Stage: 3rd Year (2007/08)

This project was based around flat pack design. The challenge was to create a product which could be easily assembled. I chose to design for an office environment.

The product i came up with was a desk tidy. The product is a simple sheet of cardboard with perforations, foldlines and instructions (illustrated on the cardboard itself). When assembled it becomes a customisbale desk tidy.

There are slots for storing paper, books, a keyboard etc. however, ther are no pen holes in the tidy. To store a pen/pencil the user must just stab it into the horizontal strip of cardboard. This is possible due to the material properties of cardboard. It also allows for full personalisation as it is easy to write/draw on.

The tidy is intended to be supplied to companies in bulk and kept in the stationary cupboard. If an employee is tired of their drawings or have used all the surface space for memos they can simply assemble a fresh tidy and since they are 100% cardboard the old one can be put in the recycle bin.
